We had a genuine affinity with and achieved great satisfaction from the result of this year’s ATC Derby as QUICK THINKER crossed the line ahead of ZEBROWSKI in second place.

Channel 7 Offers Top Coverage of Sydney Saturday Races

Confession time - after all these years as racing industry participants, until last Saturday we had never watched the Channel 7 free-to-air broadcast of the Races. Why? Well the answer is simple. As an industry participant, most Saturday’s we are at the races, and when we are not trackside we need to have Foxtel so we can watch the races on Sky Channel or Racing.com and both these dedicated Racing Channels do an excellent job as a dedicated industry resource, showing wall-to-wall racing seven days a week.

On Sky Thoroughbred Central, Greg Radley and Ray Thomas interviewed Racing NSW CEO Peter V’Landys who “Guaranteed” racing would continue in NSW for all participants and of most importance from an racehorse owners perspective, should the government force racing into a temporary shutdown, V’Landys stated that Racing NSW, would inject a cash splash and would “pay” (not the Racehorse Owners) - to keep horses in training, and this money will come from the “Future Fund” established for times of crisis, such as we are currently seeing through the pandemic.

On Saturday it started at Rosehill when 2yo colt HOLYFIELD (I Am Invincible x Hurtle Myrtle) took out the Gr3 Schweppervescence Stakes over 1400m notching up the stables 21st 2YO Race Win. Then 90 minutes later, focus was on the 2yo event at Wyong and again the stables supplied the winner when MAJOR MURPHY saluted over 1200m.
