Facts and Figures are everything in the commercial thoroughbred world where data is king. Especially when it comes to the stallion market to determine rankings, demand and worth.

On Monday 8/9/25 Champion Sire FASTNET ROCK was humanely euthanized at Coolmore, his place of birth and home for the past 20 years. He was 24. During his time, Fastnet Rock forged a legacy that saw him recognised as one of the greatest stallions Australia has ever produced, especially of the modern era. He has sired nearly 1200 individual winners including 197 Stakes Winners and 43 Group 1 Winners and 150 Stakes Winners as a Broodmare Sire.​

A BIT OF SPIRIT, is a first-crop Son of PALACE PIER (GB) (by Kingman), lived up to his name on Saturday, 30 August, when battling gamely to land the prestigious Gr3 Solario Stakes over 7 furlongs (1400m) at Sandown. After disputing the running, he found well under pressure in the straight to get the better of Humidity and Oceans Four. A BIT OF SPIRIT has been a model of consistency this season, scoring by a head on his debut at Newbury in June before following up at Salisbury and then finishing second twice in Listed contests.

Strappers are often the unsung heroes of the racing industry and this year the honour of being recognised as the 2023-24 Racing Season STRAPPER OF THE YEAR was taken out by LEONARD “LENNY” TODD a much-valued member of the Ciaron Maher Team. His first crop in Europe are doing an amazing job as he sits in second place on the GB/IRE First Season Sire’s Premiership. Overnight PALACE PIER sired his Second Stakes Winner and his first Group Winner as ROYAL FIXATION proved too strong in the Gr2 Lowther Stakes over 6-furlongs at Ebor.

PALACE PIER has now sired his first Northern Hemisphere Stakes Winner (& Quinella) when MORRIS DANCER won the Stonehenge Stakes Listed (1600m) at Salisbury. MORRIS DANCER got the better of A BIT OF SPIRIT another PALACE PIER colt, giving his young sire the stakes quinella.

Punters rallied to boom 3yo prospect PLANET RED when the son of ADMIRE MARS kept his race record intact by going back-to-back with a victory at Sandown on Wednesday. Planet Red returned from a short let-up to claim the MRC Membership Feel The Thrill Handicap (1200m) The 3-year-old was sent out a dominant $1.85 favourite before winning as expected against a strong field. Planet Red defeated Vega For Luck ($9.50) by a long neck with Bingi ($7.50) a length further away in third.
