Fit, well, ready and placed to advantage saw an effortless win as an odds-on favourite when TACT ploughed through the mud to score an easy win at Goulburn on Thursday afternoon.
This was the Wyong Provincial Meeting which was transferred to Goulburn due to the enormous rain affecting the region. So, the meeting carried Provincial prizemoney, and TACT went around for not much more effort than a track gallop and sweat to bank $25,625 being $21,000 for first prize plus $5,625 in BOBS Bonus money.

TACT is trained by the inform stable of Richard and Will Freedman at Rosehill and won Race 2, JEWELL BUILDERS MIDWAY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600m).
He was an acceptor the day before at Warwick Farm and this meeting at Goulburn was just an insurance policy but after acceptances at both venues, Goulburn (Wyong) looked very winnable whilst Warwick Farm on a bottomless Heavy 10 didn’t look as appealing in a race very even on paper. With the fact that it was worth $28,400 to win in town in a much more challenging race, than to win at Goulburn where we would bank $21,000 and we looked to start an odds-on favourite.
It was a simple business decision that paid off handsomely.
We appeared the class runner in the Goulburn event and that’s the way it panned out. In the parade he was a clear standout and raced accordingly. However, the query was that 24 hours earlier the track was a Soft 5 rating and by the time TACT was ready to face the starter, the track had down graded to a Heavy 9 and when that happens at Goulburn, it’s a race to the outside rail.
Not to worry, as we had high class hoop Kerrin McEvoy on top, and he was too smart for his peers when they tried to attack TACT from the time the gates clang back.
Kerrin had ridden TACT the start before in the Wagga Guineas where he finished close after being hampered over the final furlong and this was a definite drop back in grade.
Our intent was to lead but another couple drawn underneath us had the same intentions. So, after the first 100m TACT was a head in front but the eventual runner-up was holding the fence, and the longshot was between us trapping TACT 3 deep.

On a Heavy Track at Goulburn, that’s not an issue as it is a long 600m run down the back straight. Kerrin was happy to bide his time until the top turn where he applied some pressure and rolled forward.

From here TACT had racetrack advantage and the tempo was slow making it hard for those back in the ruck. Swinging off the home turn Kerrin cut the corner and then made a dash to three off the outside fence.
The others could offer no resistance, and TACT was ridden hands and heels over the final 300m just maintaining his already well-established lead, trotting across the finish line 2.62 lengths ahead of Anoint in second position with a long head back to Kahraba in third.

JOB DONE !

That’s now 2 wins in his past 3 starts, having won at Kembla before the Wagga Guineas last start 5th and now a Wyong class 1 win at Goulburn. One thing we feel very confident about is the further he goes the better he will be and as a 3yo developing that racetrack ability will offer plenty of opportunities in better grade, especially as we know he is a mudlark and its winter racing.
A $100,000 Magic Millions yearling from Bhima Stud, he has always shown he will want a trip in time, and he is now maturing into his frame.
This has been a promising start to the preparation, and we know he is still learning his craft but the opportunities to race at 2000m and further are now ready to present themselves because he has risen to a Benchmark 62 metro after this win, which places him in a position to take advantage of those opportunities.
