Millionaire ARBEITSAM Retired – Thanks for the Memories “BIG ARTIE”

ARBEITSAM retires with a Benchmark Rating of 103 having reached a peak Benchmark Rating of 105.

As a 2yo
ARBEITSAM raced once for a 3rd at Newcastle on debut to multiple city winner Awoke and runner-up was Invincible Gem – a multiple Gr2 Winner.

As a 3yo
ARBEITSAM broke his maiden at Wyong when resuming from a spell. This was his second career start.
During his 3yo season he went on to record: 10 starts: 4 Wins, 2 Seconds, 2 Thirds.

ARBEITSAM became the Leading Earner of BOBS Bonuses in Australia as a 3YO earning $87,500 in additional Bonus Prizemonies in 2017.

As a 4yo
ARBEITSAM raced in 9 starts: 3 Wins, 1 Second, 1 Third.
He won the Group 3 NEVILLE SELLWOOD Stakes (2000m), Listed ROWLEY MILE (1600m) and the Premiers Cup Preview (Open Company).
He was second in the MAGIC MILLIONS Cup RL and was 3rd in the Gr1 DONCASTER Hcp.

As a 5yo
ARBEITSAM raced in 7 starts: 0-0-0. However he did run 4th in three Group races. They were the Gr2 Tramway Stakes, Gr2 Shannon Quality, and Gr3 Craven Plate. He also finished a gallant 6th of 16 in the Gr1 Epsom.

Unfortunately he began developing arthritic issues in both front fetlocks early in his 4yo season which continued to plague him throughout his 4yo year and into his 5yo racing season.

Being acutely aware that we didn’t want to risk any racing injury to our horse, he had been going through a slow and steady build up towards the 2019 Spring carnival however he has started to feel his joints again, so it was an easy decision to immediately retire ARBEITSAM to a well-deserved life of leisure. He will enjoy his retirement as a pleasure pony at one of the co-owners properties, where he will live out his retirement being loved and cared for.

We congratulate the Ownership Team that raced ARBEITSAM:
Dynamic Syndications Racing Syndicate, Mr P M Roberts, Mrs M Roberts, Mr GJ Timmony, Mr H Sookias, Mrs S Halliwell, Mr M A Wolens, Mr S P Loane, Mr D C Batchelor, Mr J Yianni, Mr J N Allen, Mrs C A Read, C J R Racing Syndicate, Mr R J Gall, Mr N W Honey, Mr L Seminara, Mrs R C Budd, Mr G Rassos, Mr L Woolhouse.

We also congratulate co-owner Len Woolhouse who came up with the race name ARBEITSAM.

ARBEITSAM (pronounced ARE – BEAT – SAM) is a German word meaning “Hard-Working” and the word “Workhard” is the name of the Dam of ARBEITSAM. Why in German? That’s Easy: SNITZEL is a food that originated in Austria. In Austria, they speak the German language. Great thinking Len !

Dynamic Syndications purchased ARBEITSAM as a yearling (Lot 22) at the 2015 Magic Millions Sale from Macquarie Stud for $120,000.

ARBEITSAM as a Yearling

We liked him as a type and on our genetic ratings, he was rated A 207% and a Quality rating of Q7 based upon the SNITZEL x ROBERTO cross that had produced 2 Stakes Winners at the time.  Our vet gave the yearling the rating “STTL” (Straight To Tulloch Lodge).

History shows that our decision to purchase ARBEITSAM was a correct one.

Rowley Mile Win

Thank you to co-trainers GAI & ADRIAN for polishing ARBEITSAM into a Gr3 & LR Winning, Group 1 Placed, seven time Black-Type Earning, Millionaire racehorse.

Thank you to jockeys Tim Clark (4), Adam Hyeronimus (2) and Tommy Berry (1) for riding him to his wins.

Thank you “BIG ARTIE” for being such a wonderful racehorse to us all.

Enjoy your retirement our friend – you’ve certainly earned it.
