Australia’s Sprint Queen Set to Farewell a DYNAMIC Team
I Am Me powering home under James McDonald to win the $2 million Sydney Stakes at Randwick.
The Ciaron Maher-trained mare has amassed $4,711,100 in prizemoney from a sparkling career that includes 11 wins (5 at stakes level) and multiple Group 1 placings.
A daughter of champion sire I Am Invincible, she twice ran second in G1 sprints – finishing behind 10-time Group 1 champion Imperatriz in the Manikato Stakes and behind Magic Time in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes .

The $210,000 Inglis Premier yearling has been “an absolute dream” for connections, proving a model of consistency."
Historic Randwick Double and Stakes Wins
I Am Me fends off Bella Nipotina to capture the G3 Concorde Stakes at Randwick.
Last Spring she vaulted to the next level, winning the G3 Concorde Stakes (1000m) and then, two weeks later, the G2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick. In doing so she became only the second horse – after Redzel – to complete the Concorde/Shorts double. These victories came against top-class fields: in the Shorts she defeated the likes of Giga Kick, Stefi Magnetica, and Mazu, while in the Concorde she held off Bella Nipotina (who later won the Russell Balding Stakes) and multiple other stakes winners . Earlier in her career she had also taken out feature sprints like the Listed Canterbury Sprint (1200m) and the G2 Missile Stakes (1200m).
Blistering Speed and Elite Rating
In her Canterbury Sprint win, I Am Me shattered the track record for 1200m.
I Am Me’s raw speed is the stuff of record books. In January 2023 she shattered the Canterbury track record by running 1200m in 1:08.45 – slicing almost half a second off the previous mark. That explosive turn-of-foot is reflected in her Timeform rating of 119 – higher than many Group 1 sprint winners of recent seasons. Whether asked to blitz 1000m or slug out a 1400m dash, she has shown the versatility and heart to adapt her style – front-running or settling off the pace as needed.
Blue-Chip Bloodlines
Well-bred and beautifully conformed.
I Am Me is out of Mefnooda (USA) (by Medaglia d’Oro), a daughter of Danehill’s stakes winner One World. Notably, her fourth dam is the extraordinary Crimson Saint, the matriarch behind Royal Academy, Storm Cat, Beauty Eternal and dozens more.
Pedigree experts note that her family depth – combining the elite speed of I Am Invincible with Crimson Saint’s prolific influence – makes her a priceless broodmare prospect. “She has really got it all – electric speed, an outstanding physique and a pedigree that is just about tailor-made for her to be an elite broodmare,” praised Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch. Indeed, Dynamic Syndications Adam Watt calls her “a blue-chip mare in any broodmare band around the world”.
Soundness, Consistency and Global Appeal
The horse’s soundness and temperament have been hallmarks of her career. Watt marvels at her durability: “She’s incredibly sound and really racing at the peak of her powers as a six-year-old – testament to her quality and toughness.”
Stable foreman Johann “Aussie Joh” Gerard-Dubord (Ciaron Maher’s Sydney representative) echoes the sentiment: “She loves racing. She’s tough… she is just improving, we know she’ll stay further.”
Jockey James McDonald noted that “she’s quality… she just wears her heart on her sleeve,” summing up her fighting spirit .
In short, I Am Me has ticked all the boxes of an elite mare: speed, character, toughness and determination. These traits – along with her stellar race record – have attracted international attention from breeders and investors alike.
Final Chapter: Inglis Chairman’s Sale (Lot 70)
As I Am Me nears the finish line of her racing career, all eyes turn to her swan song under the hammer.
She is catalogued as Lot 70 in the Inglis Chairman’s Sale at Riverside on Thursday, May 8, 2025 a high-profile evening of racing bloodstock.
Dynamic Syndications Adam Watt, who has been there from her debut win to her latest stakes triumphs, sums up her legacy: “She’s been an absolute dream for everyone involved. Saying farewell to her at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale – which is such a special night on the global calendar – is going to be a memorable experience.”
With her combination of world-class sprinting credentials and blue-blood pedigree, I Am Me is poised to make headlines once more – this time as one of Australia’s most highly coveted broodmares for a global clientele.
But Wait! ..... There's More To Come
The I AM ME story is not the final chapter just a new chapter along the journey.
At Inglis Easter this year in partnership with John Stewart from the USA we purchased the half-sister to I AM ME by brilliant young sire TOO DARN HOT who was also given to Ciaron Maher to train.

Whilst we are excited to see I AM ME yearlings be sold under hammer in the years to come.
Hopefully we may be in a position to buy and race a few of them.
