ROSE
WATER is racing
like a mare full of confidence and that confidence was on full display at Taree
on Thursday when she swept to another dominant victory, claiming the SKY
International Gloucester Cup (1614m) in effortless fashion.
Just
sixteen days after winning with an authoritative Class 1 victory over
the same course and distance, the four year old daughter of CALYX ex AQUA D'AMORE returned
to the Taree Jockey Club and confirmed that performance was no one off.
This time
the task was considerably tougher.
She stepped
up in grade into a Benchmark 58 Handicap, carried an additional 3.0 kilograms,
shouldered 60.0 kilograms against the males and tackled an even more testing
Heavy 10 surface.
The result
was exactly the same.
SKY
INTERNATIONAL GLOUCESTER CUP - WON IT!
Starting another
short price favourite at $1.45, ROSE WATER gave her supporters another
comfortable watch, producing a polished display that was never seriously in
doubt.
From
barrier one, jockey Ben Looker allowed the mare to jump cleanly before
taking up the perfect trailing position one pair back along the fence. With
He's Godspeed leading and Thinkin' Bo You applying pressure, Looker had the
leaders covered throughout as ROSE WATER travelled sweetly within
herself.
Approaching
the home turn she momentarily found herself pocketed on the rail, but there was
never any panic.
Displaying
the confidence that comes from partnering a horse in peak form, Looker
patiently waited before easing his mare three wide into clear running as the
field balanced for home.
Within a
few strides ROSE WATER had cruised alongside the leaders under a firm hold.
Once Looker
allowed her to build through her gears the race was over.
Keeping her
balanced on the rain affected surface,
he never needed to fully extend the mare
as she strode to the line under hands and heels to record another soft yet
commanding victory by one length.
It was a
ride full of patience, judgement and confidence from Ben Looker, who has now
partnered the mare to consecutive victories.

Equally
deserving of praise is Newcastle trainer Jason Deamer, whose patient handling
of ROSE WATER is now being richly rewarded.
After
allowing the mare time to mature physically and mentally, she has returned to
the races a more furnished racehorse, putting her races away with authority and
racing with increasing professionalism.
Behind
every winning streak there is careful planning.
Dynamic
Syndications Director of Racing and Sales Adam Watt deserves recognition for
mapping out the mare's programme, selecting races that allowed ROSE WATER to
continue building confidence while providing her loyal ownership team with the
opportunity to enjoy successive winning celebrations.
Good
placement still requires a horse capable of taking advantage of the
opportunity.
ROSE WATER
has done exactly that.
She has now
won her past two starts with authority, proving effective over a mile
and on rain affected ground, and appears to be racing in the best form of her
career.
The victory
was also significant for Dynamic Syndications.
ROSE
