Patience and persistence were rewarded at Taree on Tuesday
when Dynamic Syndications 4yo mare ROSE WATER recorded the second victory of
her career with a dominant performance in the Cafe Nosh Class 1 & Maiden
Plate over 1600 metres.
Prepared by Newcastle trainer Jason Deamer and expertly
ridden by Ben Looker, ROSE WATER justified her short odds-on quote of $1.30 with an
authoritative display, defeating Smokey Saint by 2.94 lengths, with Elite
Delight a further margin away in third.
Whilst the official margin was impressive, it arguably
understated her superiority.
After jumping cleanly, Looker executed the race plan
perfectly, allowing ROSE WATER to settle third on the fence with cover exactly
where Deamer had hoped she would be.
Travelling strongly throughout, she
remained poised behind the leaders before the tempo increased approaching the
home turn.
As the field straightened, Looker eased the mare into clear
running and within a few strides she had ranged alongside the leaders.
Once
balanced, ROSE WATER quickly put the race beyond doubt.

At the 200 metre mark she exploded clear before being eased
down over the concluding stages,

still widening her advantage as she strode to
the line for a comfortable and convincing victory.

The win was particularly satisfying for Jason Deamer, who
had forecast the performance almost perfectly in the pre-race interview.
"She's been knocking on the door," Deamer said.
"Originally we were going to put her in the 1800
metres, which would have been perfect, but the mile here in testing conditions
should suit her."
The Dynamic trainer also elected to apply winkers for the first
time, believing the gear change would help sharpen the mare's focus.
"We've probably been threatening to put them on for a
while, just to get her to switch on a bit more and focus during the race."
The change proved a masterstroke.
Following the victory, Jason Deamer was interviewed at the
winner’s stall and was full of praise for Looker's ride.

"It was the training effort that made him look good!" Jason laughed.
Then he continued "He rode her to the letter. He put her right behind the
leaders, had her travelling lovely there and she kept moving with the other
horses and bounced up."
"It was a great race for her, and it was good to see
her put them away like that."

ROSE WATER is a daughter of CALYX from the outstanding
racemare AQUA D'AMORE and Deamer believes there is still more to come from the
lightly raced mare.
"For the mare that she is, we've just looked after her
because she's quite well bred, so hopefully we can get a few more wins on the
board before she goes off to the breeding barn."

Jockey Ben Looker was equally impressed with the performance
and believes the mare is capable of measuring up in stronger company.
"Today we wanted to be positive and ride her like the
best horse in the race," Looker said.
"Obviously she was very well placed by Jason and the
Dynamic team."
"I think that win today will give her a lot of
confidence."
"She's definitely up to provincial grade or even the
right sort of Midway race."
The victory improved ROSE WATER'S record to 14 starts for 2
wins, 3 seconds and 2 thirds with earnings of $69,575.
Congratulations on a well-deserved result for her loyal

ROSE WATER had been threatening to produce a performance
like this for some time.
On Tuesday at Taree, everything came together.
The right race, the right ride, the right gear change and a
mare beginning to realise her potential.
The result was an easy watch for her owners, connections, and supporters. Perhaps
a glimpse of better things still to come.
Whilst the Dynamic Syndications race win tally keeps
growing.
This win by ROSE WATER became the Dynamic Syndications
Team’s 1,004th race win overall
and our 53rd Race Win for the season.
Onwards and Upwards – Forever Forward!
