Planned to Perfection ELABORATE Result Delivers Dominant Win

14 May 19

Dynamic Syndications galloper ELABORATE
broke through for a timely win at Kembla Grange on Tuesday when easily accounting for his peers in Race 5 the PEAKFOAM Maiden Plate 1600m winning by 3 lengths over favourite Dhiaga with 0.3 lengths back to Murrage in third spot.

He ran 1:36.37 coming home in 36.57 secs his last 600m when eased down the final 25m.

This was a good clip especially compared to the higher grade Benchmark 64 over a mile which ran 1:37.45 which is 1.08 secs which is equivalent to 7 lengths slower. Elaborate really did make this a one act affair thanks to a sharp ride by jet pilot Christian Reith who followed the race plan to perfection.

We had intended to be positive and take a forward position and as the gates clanged back the field came our together and Christian pushed forward to settle in the lead as Heaven’s Dream pushed up underneath to hold the fence whilst Kooza came up to eyeball Elaborate 3 deep.

Christian pushed on for another 100m then quickly weighed-up that the others were going too hard so he took hold, allowing Kooza to work to cross therefore giving Elaborate a lovely trail one off the fence, a length and a half off the leaders and ready to pounce.

Christian knew he was on the best horse and with the favourite back at the tail of the field, Christian took off before the point of the turn and dashed 2 lengths in front, getting those chasing off the bit.

Those two that had set the early tempo dropped out badly with Heaven’s Dream beaten 19.1 lengths and Kooza 27.6 lengths.

There was never any concern in transit for Elaborate’s connections and such was the leading margin with 100m to go, Christian was able to give Elaborate a hands and heels effort over the concluding stages and despite this, those chasing made no impression. To be fair, Elaborate had been racing in stronger company and the drop back to a Set Weights maiden event had the horse extremely well placed and he won with the ease expected.

Tactically there was also a significant gear change with Blinkers being applied for the first time whilst he also appreciated the good surface compared to last start’s shifting ground on a tighter track.

Christian Reith reported that he felt the horse travelled smoothly throughout and would appreciate further ground up to 2000m on roomy tracks.

The win of ELABORATE continues the fantastic run the FREEDMAN BROS (Richard / Michael & Richard’s son Will) are having since they joined forces with their first runner just 10 days ago. The boys have had 15 starters and have won the Listed Scone Cup with Special Missile and picked up a win with Outback Diva on Saturday and now Elaborate becomes their third winner for their new venture.
