In an exceptionally strong 2yo maiden at Kembla on
Wednesday, the Chris Waller stable filled the trifecta. However, it was the
well-bred Wootton Bassett (GB) filly Katoto who started favourite and
scored nicely.

Katoto beats her stablemates
Unhinged and Tron Bolt at Kembla
Second on debut earlier this month in another strong maiden
at Hawkesbury which was won by the flashy Extremely Tempted, Katoto was
sent off favourite for the 1300m maiden with Jason Collett on top.
She had the benefit or race fitness and experience and was far
too strong late to win eased down by a widening long neck margin. She
defeated the well credentialled first starter colts Unhinged and Tron Bolt.
Unhinged is a half-brother by Snitzel to $2.2million earning
Group 1 winner Hinged, whilst Tron Bolt, had topped the Inglis Ready-2-Race
Sale last year selling for $900,000. It is the first foal of Group 3 winner Baccarat
Baby, a half-sister to three-time Group 1 winner Duais and Group 2 winner
Philia.
Stable representative Darren Beadman said: “The filly
having the benefit of that one run under her belt, was the turning of the
tables today, given that she had that little bit race experience and fitness”.
“It was a gallant effort by her, and she is a lovely
filly by Wootton Basset that is going places.”
Jason Collett was delighted with the effort of Katoto:
“She was clean from the gates today and was I was able to get her into a
good spot,” he said.
“It was a soft win, albeit not by a big margin, but I
had a lot of horse under me from a long way out.”

Katoto was a $450,000 Magic
Millions purchase.
A $450,000 Magic Millions purchase from Gerry
Harvey’s Baramul Stud for Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock, Katoto
is a half-sister to dual Group 2 winning filly Savvy Hallie, who challenged
outstanding filly Tempted when a close second in the Group 1 ATC Surround Stakes.
She is the third winner from three foals to race from

Rose of Savannah, a winning Fastnet Rock grand-daughter of

dual
Group 1 winner Savannah Success, the dam of

Cox Plate winning champion
sire Savabeel.
Rose of Savannah produced a filly by Reliable Man (GB) last
spring before going to I Am Invincible in 2025 and her yearling colt by Home
Affairs sold for $200,000 at Karaka Book 1 this year.
Dynamic Syndications purchased a very close relation
to Katoto and Savvy Hallie at the Magic Millions.
This is
a wonderful family that has been very rewarding to us previously through
the deeds of Savabeel.

It’s a family that Gerry Harvey has invested
in several females that are being bred-up to highly commercial sires.
We went to $150,000 + GST for Lot 450 a colt by champion
sire Pierro from Lake
Marion (by Redoute’s Choice) – a three-quarter-sister to Rose of Savannah (by Fastnet Rock).

Pierro is the sire of:

Pierro - Sire
569
winners (72.0%), earnings of over $107 million, 40
stakes winners, 32 stakes placegetters.
The colt is bred on a magical A+++
cross of PIERRO over REDOUTE’S CHOICE which has produced 67 winners including 11
stakes winners (10 Colts / 1 Filly).
LEVENDI, REGAL POWER, ACTION, DRAGON LEAP, FURORE, ARCADIA
PRINCE, KENTUCKY BREEZE, SACRAMENTO, COLEMAN, LORD COSMOS and the
filly ARCADIA QUEEN.
Since the gavel fell on our colt on the 14th January,

Savvy
Hallie (by Hellbent) advanced her career record to 11 starts =3:4:1 and Prizemoney: $985,700.
She has added the Gr2 Lightfingers 1200m
($172,000) beating Apocalyptic and she finished runner-up by just 0.18 len when
second to Tempted in the Gr1 Surround 1400m ($141,000). She had already won the Gr2 Silver Shadow
when we purchased our Pierro Colt.
Gerry loved this colt as much as we did, and said if we purchased it, he
would buy back in for half (50%) to race
with Dynamic Syndications and our co-ownership team.
The way the 2yo filly Katoto won her 2yo maiden
suggests there are many more wins in front of the filly at a much stronger
level.
Our colt is a cracker and he has broken-in superbly.
