As April
draws to a close, there are just 3 months remaining to the 2025-26
Racing Season.
With the yearling
sales basically behind us and stallion masters spruiking the wares
of their sires to potential breeders, looking for options to send their mares in
the 2026 season, it’s a vital time to look at the various Sires Premiership
tables and see who is doing well and those that are not.
In many
instances the data speaks for itself. Yearling buyers and owners can identify
opportunities when looking at buying into racing stock.
At Dynamic
Syndications, we are constantly reviewing data, looking for the advantages
that data provides when assessing which sire’s progeny should be considered and
alternatively, the much bigger list of whose should be avoided.
With the record
prizemoney on offer on the track, and via Bonus Monies won by
graduates of sales races series and state breeding bonuses, selecting the
right stallion from the right broodmare sireline offers significantly increased
opportunities of tremendous financial returns.
Below are
snapshots of various tables to help analyse what is happening in our industry.
The
facts, as opposed to the fiction of the marketing machine hype, as at 30 April 2026:
What Dynamic
Syndications also track is how Sires and Broodmare Sires of Yearlings we have
purchased are performing.
Each sire category
is reviewed by Earnings (primary) and by Winners (secondary).
Obviously,
Earnings can be distorted if one horse wins one or two major races worth
big prizemoney, So its important to review how they are tracking in a broader racetrack
success.
Whilst
another aspect that must be considered especially for young sires, is the volume
of runners they have seen compete in races.
If numbers are low, this can
suggest (a) Slow maturing breed, or (b) Unsound breed. Conversely
high numbers may represent a (c) Sound breed, (d) Easy to train. However if their strike rate is low as a percentage then they may be best avoided.
From here
we look at Winners:Runners percentages and Black-Type:Winners.
This gives a clear picture as to Who’s HOT and Who’s NOT.
For those
that enjoy the research-based strategies, this offers a fascinating review
at the 3/4 stage of the season.
