Dynamic Syndications 3yo filly PERCOLATE announced herself
in style on Saturday, breaking through for a deserved Maiden victory when
resuming first-up for her new trainer Jason Deamer in the CLUB FORSTER MAIDEN
HANDICAP over 1305m at Tuncurry.

Having her first start for the stable after transferring to
the care of Jason Deamer, the daughter of Zoustar showed toughness, tactical
speed and determination to score an impressive Heavy Track success that
suggested there is plenty more upside to come.
The race was mapped perfectly by our team before the gates
opened. On a rain affected Heavy 8 surface, the instructions were to be
positive early and avoid giving away too much start on a testing track where
making ground can often become an impossible task. The plan was simple. Roll
forward, apply pressure, and force the opposition out of their comfort zone.
As the barriers crashed back, it quickly became a furious
battle for early supremacy. Several runners wanted the lead and the tempo
through the first 400m was genuinely strong. It was here that jockey Luke Rolls
displayed his experience and race awareness.
Caught wide early from Barrier 10, Luke refused to panic.
Instead, he allowed the filly to build momentum gradually, remaining very wide
for much of the run down the back straight before making a decisive move
approaching the first turn. Pushing the handlebars down, Rolls allowed
PERCOLATE to stride forward strongly and once she crossed to the lead, the
filly immediately relaxed underneath him.
That was the winning move.
Rolling along powerfully, PERCOLATE quickly established a
two-length margin as the field thundered toward the home turn and into the
straight.
Despite the testing Heavy 8 conditions, Luke later explained
the track was racing consistently and there was no disadvantage being closer to
the inside section of the circuit. Sensing his rivals were already under
pressure, he pressed the button at the 400m and the filly responded
courageously, skipping clear and putting the chasing pack under immediate
stress.

Passing the 200m there was only one horse capable of
mounting a serious challenge, the runner-up Be More Pacific, however PERCOLATE
refused to surrender. Although understandably tiring after her early work, the
filly continued to fight strongly all the way to the line, maintaining a margin
of 1.07 lengths over the runner-up and almost six-lengths back to the third
horse.

It was a performance full of merit. First up from a spell,
carrying out a tough on speed role from a wide draw on a rain affected track,
PERCOLATE had every right to weaken late. Instead, she dug deep and proved too
strong.

The victory was also a wonderful training performance by
Jason Deamer, who presented the filly in outstanding order following two solid
fitness trials and a searching piece of work the previous Saturday where she
was asked to extend strongly over the concluding stages alongside a stablemate.
That attention to detail, combined with smart placement and clever race
tactics, combined to deliver a valuable victory for a beautifully bred young
filly.

Importantly, the win now gives PERCOLATE enormous residual value
for her future broodmare career. Having shown promise during her first racing
preparation with two fourth placings and a sixth from three starts, she had
indicated ability, however for well-bred fillies, securing that all important
Maiden victory is vital.

The team got the JOB DONE.
Equally encouraging was the manner in which she handled the
Heavy conditions. With the winter months approaching and rain affected tracks
becoming more common, that proven wet track ability could become a significant
advantage moving forward.

Post-race, jockey Luke Rolls summed up the performance
perfectly when speaking to the ownership team: “Yeah, we had plenty of work to
get to the lead, and when I did get to the lead, she just switched straight
off. Really she floated and on straightening, I felt like I was gone, but to
her credit, she just kept fighting and kept winding it up. Probably she gets
further and maybe set the shades or something to sharpen her up.”
Congratulations to our Dynamic Ownership Team of PERCOLATE: Dynamic Ladies, Mr S R Freeman, Mr G Harvey, Mr R J Gall, Mr
