She was PASSED-IN for $280,000 with a Reserve of $300,000.

Team Dynamic made an offer and negotiated a deal between
Arrowfield Stud & Dillon Ventures, where we purchased 100% of the filly for $250,000
and then Arrowfield Stud bought back in for a 10% Share. 

With Arrowfield Stud joining us to race the filly this was a strong endorsement of the quality and type of filly she is.

He won his first General Sires’ Premiership in 2017 with all-time record Australian earnings of $16.2 million, joining Danehill & Redoute’s Choice to complete Australia’s only three-generation sequence of Champion Sires.

The 2YO & 3YO Sires’ categories belonged to him too, and he headed all three lists by Winners, Stakes-Winners & Stakes Wins.

Snitzel’s 2016/17 tally of 26 Australian Stakes-Winners equalled Danehill’s record and his tally of 35 2YO Winners is a new mark.
Key aspects of Snitzel's performance are his world-class 9.8% Stakes-Winners : Runners, high proportion of Group Winners and his exceptional success as a sire of juveniles.

However they don’t get the same opportunities due to smaller number of races as distances increase which equates to fewer opportunities. Further many mares mated to Snitzel are speed mares so genetically they are disadvantaged beyond a mile. However those that are specifically bred to run beyond a mile have an excellent strike rate.

Seventy-Seven (77) $1 million+ Yearlings confirms Snitzel’s status as a premier stallion and demand for his progeny is intense. Over the past years, Snitzel has been a lynchpin of the Australian bloodstock economy.
From 2015 to 2026 breeders, vendors and sale companies have banked more than $154 million for Snitzel yearlings.

PEDIGREE

Snitzel is the best sire son of three-time Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, who in turn was the best sire son of breed-shaper Danehill, from the Danzig branch of the Northern Dancer sire-line.
Snitzel was bred by Francois Naude from the dual Listed winner Snippets’ Lass, a daughter of Champion Sprinter and leading sire Snippets.
Snippets’ Lass also left Group 3 winners Viennese (by Redoute’s Choice) and Hinchinbrook (by Fastnet Rock).
Offered by Yarraman Park Stud at the 2004 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, Snitzel was purchased for $260,000 by Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan for owner Damion Flower.

RACE PERFORMANCE

Snitzel won four of his 6 starts at two, including the AJC Breeders’ Plate LR and a defeat of subsequent Golden Slipper winner Stratum in the STC Skyline S. G3.

Snitzel ended the 2004/05 season with a Timeform figure of 121.

He progressed at three to add a trio of sprint victories at Group level, most notably beating Virage de Fortune and Takeover Target in the VRC Oakleigh Plate G1.

Snitzel also placed in the VRC Newmarket H. G1 and AJC T.J. Smith S. G1 before retiring to stud at Arrowfield in 2006 with a record of 15 starts, 7 wins, 4 placings and just over $1 million prizemoney.

Trainer Gerald Ryan nominates toughness, durability and speed as Snitzel's best racing qualities.

In fact, he was so sound and healthy when he retired that his vet record was almost blank.

A FOAL SHARE

At the saleyard under Full Disclosure from the Vendor, we discovered that Lot618 SNITZEL x NORDIQUE (GB) Filly was one of a handful of catalogued FOAL SHARES being offered FOR SALE by an ARROWFIELD STUD Sire.


Dynamic Syndications like to identify FOAL SHARE offerings at every sale because they MUST be offered to the market UNRESERVED and under a contract arrangement between the Broodmare Owners (Breeder) and the stud farm, they must be sold through the salering.


If a reserve is placed on any FOAL SHARE then the broodmare owner must guarantee to buy out the Stud Farm at that reserve price if it fails to meet reserve in the ring. 

WHAT IS A FOAL SHARE?

A FOAL SHARE is where the breeder owns the Broodmare and the Stallion is controlled by the Stud Farm.

The Breeder may wish to send their broodmare to a certain high end stallion, but may not be in a financial position to pay for the service fee to that stallion or may consider that depth of investment too high a risk.

Dependent upon the commercial appeal and quality of the broodmare, Stud Farms may enter into a FOAL SHARE AGREEMENT with the Broodmare Owner if they can foresee a WIN / WIN position.

* That being the Breeder can foresee that their mare may be uplifted as a producer, by the Sire, and could potentially produce a Stakes Winner enhancing the value of all future progeny from the mare.

* The Stud Farm considers that the Sire may get to produce stakes class progeny from the mating.

Whilst FOAL SHARE AGREEMENTS can vary on a case by case basis, the standard FOAL SHARE AGREEMENT is where the service fee is supplied to the Breeder without payment, however the Stud Farm becomes the owner of 50% of the resultant foal.

The breeder pays 100% of the holding costs from date of covering the mare by the sire, until the moment the resultant horse enters into the salering and whatever the horse brings at the fall of hammer is split on a 50/50 basis between the Breeder and the Stud Farm.

Therefore the horse must be sold under the agreement to the highest bidder whatever that bid may be.

This often allows for an opportunity to purchase top quality yearlings without an inflationary reserve price being applied and market forces allow for the occasional "saleyard steal."

On rare occasions, the breeder and stud may agree to place a reserve price on their yearling.

Under those terms, the Breeder must Buy Out the Stud Farm at the Reserve Price. 

We were advised that this FILLY was a FOAL SHARE AGREEMENT between Arrowfield Stud Group P/L and Dillon Group LLC. 

Dillon Group LLC wanted to place a $300,000 reserve on the filly and she was Passed-In at $280,000 / Reserve $300,000.

When the filly was still available the following day, the breeder became concerned that they were obligated to buy out Arrowfield. 

Team Dynamic offered $250,000, the amount we had bid up to for her in the salering. Our offer was accepted.

Arrowfield and Dillon Group LLC shared $125,000 each before sale company deductions.

Below was the commentary report Dean Watt wrote about the yearling during three (3) pre-sale selection criteria inspections prior to the lot being offered for sale.

Commentary in brackets has been added in for description purpose so non-horse industry participants may have a better understanding of Dean’s sales notes.

* A top walker – purposeful, balanced, with fluid motion.

* Importantly this yearling Tracks Truly and has a Very Good Overstep (Propulsion)

* Strong well defined top line (back) with the withers set well back

* Excellent - Deep girth (Lung capacity)

* Intelligent Head - Wide Forehead - Soft Kind Eye

* Has a strong reign (neck & distance from Poll to Withers)

* Good width of jaw and corresponds with big Nostrils (for windflow capacity access)

* Conformationally front legs are excellent with nice short cannon (which is technically very good – means longer forearm covers more ground per stride)

* Powerful hindquarter with excellent length of to its croup and excellent hip:hock ratio (propulsion levers for driving forward)

* Well developed Gaskins (like Human biceps = strength) which are strong and deep into hocks

* Correct angulation to pasterns and shoulders (correct 60 degree angles)

* Hoofs are well structured and all 4 are symmetrical with good heels.

* Stands over good ground (length to back in correct proportion to balance of individual)

* Nice style of individual by the sire with classic middle-distance shape and style

Dr Tim Roberts - Contracted Veterinarian to Dynamic Syndications

Our veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts inspected the yearling prior to purchase and believed this youngster to be a quality individual and a chance of being a successful equine athlete with no visual clinical issues likely to prevent it from reaching its racing potential.

Before purchase, the 42 X-Rays deposited in the sale ground X-Ray Repository facility were examined. There were no abnormal findings noted.

The horse was approved by Dr. Roberts for Dynamic Syndications to purchase in the salering.

After purchase, an endoscopic test on the horse's airway was performed and the result was the horse had normal function.

Also a blood test was performed and revealed no abnormal findings.

This is our Ceiling Price. The price we are prepared to bid up to in a bidding war in the Salering. The maximum price we set at which we will withdraw from the heat of battle.

We set a strict ceiling price on all the horses that pass Veterinarian Inspection and write that figure on the Catalogue Page of each lot that passes to ensure that we do not make bidding errors during the auction.

Having completed all our Due Diligence reviews based upon Pedigree, Conformation, Veterinary Acceptance and Market Appraisal, we are always prepared to bid up to our limit to secure what we considered is an outstanding individual.

Valuation Price:

Considering HER outstanding conformation and the strength and depth of the female family and the pedigree genetics this individual was secured at a price representing terrific value to the team at Dynamic.

We had valued the yearling at $250,000 (+ one bid $260,000).

The secure the filly at $250,000  was in line with our market appraisal of the true commercial value and this represented exceptional value that we now pass onto our owners.
