Dynamic Syndications paid $120,000 for DEEP CHILL who was Lot 697 at the 2018 Magic Millions Sales on the Gold Coast.

The colt repaid the faith of his connections when on debut at Rosehill, he was stepping out more for experience and education as the 1100m trip was well short of what the colt is bred to do however DEEP CHILL lived up to his pedigree when finishing a strong third to McLaren ($380,000) and Spring Loaded ($750,000) in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes for the 2yo Colts and Geldings.

The son of WANDJINA who himself was a brilliant Gr1 winning 3yo over 1600m, is from the dual Gr1 winning mare ESKIMO QUEEN.

The dam won 4 races up to 2400m including the Gr1 Queensland Oaks and Gr 1 Coolmore Classic.

Dynamic Syndications purchased the colt with middle distance races in the 3yo spring in mind.

Dynamic Syndications placed the horse privately with Summertime Thoroughbreds owner John Cordina, a long-time loyal client of excellent horseman David Payne at Rosehill.

John’s horse’s race in the instantly recognisable Orange with Black & White checked Sash.

These Wandjina 2yo’s have all shown ability but have been crying out for ground and a bit of age.

They appear set to hit their mark later in the season and then be in for a big Spring once they turn 3.

DEEP CHILL is now the second WANDJINA to earn Black-Type with the first being a filly named GRAND SCHOLAR.

David Payne and John Cordina look to have a very promising miler to 2000m horse in the making with DEEP CHILL.

Dynamic Syndications purchased 2 yearlings by Wandjina in 2018 and whilst DEEP CHILL is showing what we always thought he could, the filly we purchased and placed with GAI WATERHOUSE and ADRIAN BOTT we believe is going to be a real top line horse once the races get out to 1400m and beyond and we believe she will be a power packet in the Spring.

Our filly is from the mare SPOOKED is bred to be a sprinter miler and the hardest thing we have had to do with our Wandjina filly is learn patience because we are acutely aware that the racing doesn’t suit our filly until after the autumn.

She is no speedy squib, she is a strong, attractive, robust filly with conformation matching her pedigree and her sustained galloping and times at trackwork has excited the Waterhouse stables.

She has ticked all the boxes needed to date and on her trackwork times at Randwick, she is appearing well above average. We have little doubt that despite the excellent showing of
DEEP CHILL the colt we purchased, the filly gives every indication at this stage, she should outperform the colt during her racing career.

The hardest decision we have had to make was to not push on with her into the early sprint races in those lead up races to the Golden Slipper because we are adamant that she would perform with gusto over the unsuitable short trips but not be placed to advantage and therefore over exerting her may run the risk of injury.

So with the best interests of the horse and her owners always of the utmost importance, we turned our back on temptation and took the hard decision and tipped her back out for a short break 4 week break after Christmas and she now resumes training on Monday 3rd February with the Brisbane Carnival in mind once the races for 2yo’s get out over longer distances.

For disclosure, Dynamic Syndications have 1 only 5% share remaining in this 2yo filly and she is brilliant value at $7,625.

No waiting and we know she runs very well.

Alternatively we could possibly divide the share into 2 x 2.5% shares at $3,812.50 (*conditions apply).
