When PIGS FLY It’s In The Blood - ANZ Bloodstock News

A tremendous in-depth story by Trevor Marshallsea @ANZ_News 2/10/25. Where do you start with the story of Piggyback? It’s a tale with such a sprinkling of unexpected, strange and purely wild elements that - were this not racing and breeding - it’d be hard to believe. An Australian-bred stayer (no wait, there’s more!) - who after winning last Saturday’s Colin Stephen Quality (Gr 3, 2400m) goes in to wave the flag and battle a field of mostly European imports in Saturday’s The Metropolitan (Gr 1, 2400m) at Randwick

Aussie BARGAIN BUYS fly the flag against expensive imports

They are the "Aussie-bred bargain buys" on a Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) collision course with the big-money European stayers. Piggyback and Flying Bandit may not have the global trotting staying appeal of many of their rivals but will fly the flag for Australian breeders in the $750,000 test at Randwick this weekend. Combined the Widden Stud raised pair cost owners less than $50,000.

SO YOU THINK - The “Underrated” Champion Stallion That Just Keeps Delivering

The brilliant victory by Revelare in the Group 3 Archer Stakes at Flemington has reignited discussion around one of the most admired – yet still curiously under-rated – stallions in Australia: SO YOU THINK. The dual Cox Plate hero is now a 19-year-old and shows no signs of slowing down in the breeding barn. His fertility remains strong, and his progeny continue to shine across Australia and New Zealand. Revelare’s Cup-qualifying win – his eighth from just eleven starts – pushed SO YOU THINK to third on the general sires’ table this season, sitting just behind Snitzel (deceased) and Zoustar.
