Golden Slipper Day of 2026 will be remembered in Australian turf history as the day Champion jockey James McDonald worked with the progeny of two brilliant young Arrowfield sires to equal, then exceed Damien Oliver’s Group 1 riding record, setting his own new mark of 131. He did it with three consecutive Group 1 victories. That made 7 black type success stories and 3 stakes placings for Arrowfield Stud stallions in four hours, including 4 of the 5 Group 1 features at Rosehill Gardens. AUTUMN GLOW, AUTUMN BOY, MARHOONA, AELIANA, ORIGIN OF LOVE, BESKAR, AURUM BELLE and Stakes Placegetters POLYMINA, CAFFE FLORIAN, MAZU whilst the afternoon prior PLYMOUTH (The Autumn Sun) was runner-up in the Albury Cup, a Listed Race at 2000m.

Widden Stud’s Sire Trapeze Artist is “Flying” and his exceptional run of stakes success over the summer continued at Randwick on Saturday when his quality four-year-old daughter PINITO won the Gr3 ATC Aspiration Quality (1600m). A Inglis Easter 2023 purchase for $260,000 from Widden Stud, Pinito closed out her three-year-old season as runner-up in the Gr1 Queensland Oaks after winning the Gold Coast Bracelet (Listed) when she finished ahead of Dynamic Syndications filly Amplify (Microphone) who was the runner-up.

Dynamic Syndications celebrated another racetrack success and victory number 985 on Tuesday at Taree when PICCADERRO delivered a determined victory in the GET YOUR 2026 MVRC MEMBERSHIP CLASS 1 HANDICAP over 1400 metres. Prepared by trainer Jason Deamer at Newcastle and ridden with confidence by leading jockey Ashley Morgan, PICCADERRO proved too strong for his rivals when it mattered most, recording his second career victory, and continuing the gelding’s steady rise through the grades.

The $175,000 Listed VRC TAB We’re On Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on Saturday always looked as though Coolmore Stud’s exciting first crop sire HOME AFFAIRS would play a dominant role in the finish and that proved the case when his flying fillies Gin Twist (2f Home Affairs x Twist Tops, by Beneteau) and La Gitana (2f Home Affairs x Hips Don’t Lie, by Stravinsky) filling the quinella. Amazingly, this is the second time in his short career HOME AFFAIRS has sired the quinella in a stakes race. In NZ on New Year’s Day he sired the quinella of Eclipse Stakes Gr2 when KINNAIRD defeated HARVEY WALLBANGER.
