SNITZEL Almost $7m Clear at the TOP of the Sires Premiership

01 May 19

After 39 weeks of the 2018-19 racing season, Arrowfield Stud's record-breaking two-time Champion Australian Sire SNITZEL ($21,280,044) earnings has skipped out to just a round of drinks short of $7 million clear of his nearest rival, I Am Invincible ($14,325,343) whilst back in third position is Darley's deceased shuttler Street Cry (thanks predominantly to Winx) with $13,556,897.

The Top 10 ranked stallions in Australia (as of 29 April) are:

Exceed and Excel 2000        196      83    $6,679,790

However the stallion that continues to amaze and make huge inroads in the Australian Breeding Scene is ZOUSTAR. His oldest are just 3yo’s so has only limited opportunity as compared to sires with older horses.

His deeds have seen his 2019 Service Fee surge to $154,000.

ZOUSTAR has had just 106 Runners for 53 Winners including 7 Stakes Winners – that’s 50% Winners : Runners which places him at the TOP by Strike Rate. This season he has amassed $6,193,840 which places him in 10th spot overall on the active sires list.

Whilst across the ditch, NZ Super Sire and Champion for the past 4 years SAVABEEL continues along with his own awesome results, clearly ahead in the NZ Sires Premiership with current earnings, winners, wins, stakes winners and stakes wins.

Putting into perspective just how good the record prizemoney in Australia is evident when you compare it to the handful of coins and ribbons they run for in New Zealand.

SNITZEL has had 313 Runners : 152 Winners and $21,284,604
Snitzel average earnings per winner = $140,030

Whilst in NZ

SAVABEEL has had 118 Runners : 62 Winners and $3,811,344
Savabeel average earnings per winner = $61,473

For comparison, that’s a massive earning differential of 228% MORE PRIZEMONEY per winner in Australia when compared to earning capacity in NZ.

And SNITZEL has had 313 Runners whilst Savabeel just 118 Runners – that’s 265% More Runners = More Racing Opportunities.

1    Savabeel (AUS) 2001        118    62    $3,811,344

2    Pins (AUS) 1996                  73    32    $1,941,582  (*Deceased)
