OLYMPIC GLORY Produces His 2nd Stakes Horse

11 Oct 18

On Tuesday in Bordeux France, First Crop Sire OLYMPIC GLORY sired his 2nd Stakes Horse when the interestingly named GOT WIND (GB) (2yo Filly by Olympic Glory ex Sarvana) finished with the silver when runner-up in the 1600m 2yo Grand Criterium de Bordeux – Prix du Hong Kong Jockey Club LR.

GOT WIND (GB) was facing the starter for the fourth time and was coming into this event off a last start win of the Prix Fornells – Prix Yves Lalleman at Craon over 1650m.

This is the second stakes performer for the exciting new sire OLYMPIC GLORY.

GOT WIND (GB) joins MINDT (Olympic Glory ex Lisanor) who finished with the silver when runner-up in the 2yo Coolmore Pride of Dubai Tipperary Stakes LR over 1000m at Tipperary, Ireland.

OLYMPIC GLORY is a son of Champion Australian Sprinter CHOISIR and is doing a marvellous job at stud with his first crop in Europe.

OLYMPIC GLORY stands in the Northern Hemisphere at Al Shaqab’s Haras de Bouquetot in France and then shuttles to Australia for the Southern Hemisphere season where he stands at ARROWFIELD STUD.

His first crop Australian progeny have just turned 2yo’s. There are not a lot of them as he served a restricted book of mares and as a result only has 80 live foals in Australia from his first crop. So far only 33 of these 80 have been named.

Their scarcity has added nicely to their commerciality and their demand in the market.

From only 45 Runners he has sired: 122 Race Starts: 16 Race Wins + 31 Race Placings

14 individual 1st-crop winners with a further 13 Placegetters & 2 Fourths. That’s 64.4% of his runners !

The deeper into the European 2yo season in we get which allows the distances to increase, the better these sons and daughters of OLYMPIC GLORY are performing.

OLYMPIC GLORY was a four-time Group 1-winning European sprinting star, whose superb first crop yearlings sold for up to $600,000.

A Champion 2YO, a Champion 3YO Miler, a four-time Group 1-winning sprinter-miler –

OLYMPIC GLORY won Gr1 races at 2, 3 and 4.

When Australia’s breeding industry powerhouse Arrowfield Stud backs a shuttle stallion, the vibes are right.

Arrowfield Chairman John Messara said, “Olympic Glory is a first class stallion prospect and as such is a major asset for Australian breeders. We look forward to launching Olympic Glory’s southern hemisphere career with a strong book of mares.”

John Warren, a bloodstock advisor to The Queen and advisor to Al Shaqab, says, “Sheikh Joaan is delighted that Olympic Glory will be standing at Arrowfield; John Messara’s team have a wealth of experience standing top class stallions and are committed to making Al Shaqab’s first venture into the Australian thoroughbred industry a success.”

He is now a Hot First Crop Sire in Europe.
OLYMPIC GLORY is doing a fantastic job overseas and whispers are circulating here in Australia amongst the big stables.

There are high hopes for this brilliant son of Choisir to make an immediate impact in Australia with his first crop 2yo’s, especially when the trip gets out to beyond 1200m in the Autumn 2yo races.

OLYMPIC GLORY has sired 14 individual winner from 45 runners.

From his 14 winners they have won 16 races at the following distances:

2000m, 1650m, 1609m, 1600m, 1428m, 1408m, 1400m (5), 1267m, 1200m, 1100m, 1009m, 1000m.

Dynamic Syndications at the 2018 yearling sales, were keen to see how OLYMPIC GLORY progeny looked and we were delighted with what we saw.

Like him,
they were strong, athletic, good boned, sprinter / miler types.
When we saw the yearling from Group 1 Winner COVERTLY he was an elite individual and we became focused upon buying him.

Our Colt at the yearling sales

Any colt whose by a Champion Racehorse and 4 time Group 1 Winner, from a Group 1 Winner who won 6 Races -4 at 2- has a recipe for success.

Add in the fact the mare has produced 4 foals to race – 3 winners and each of these winners is Stakes Class with DETECTIVE winning a Listed Race and placed at Gr2 and Listed level.

Bourne Supremacy

Bourne Supremacy
won 5 races and was Gr3 placed

Secret Doubt

whilst Secret Doubt won 2 races and ran 4th in a Listed Race.
Genetically the cross is highly successful with 61 Stakes Winners on the 3 x 3 Danehill x Kalamoun cross.
When our veterinarian Dr. Tim Roberts checked the X-Rays and scope and gave us the green light to buy him, we determined a true market valuation on him of up to $150,000.
When the horse was in the ring, we were delighted to hold the winning bid at $120,000 + GST. That was $30,000 under our ceiling price and represented a 20% discount we could pass onto our owners.
He must have impressed the team at Arrowfield Stud as an individual from day 1 because as soon as he was knocked down to Dynamic Syndications, Arrowfield approached and thanked us for buying him and then asked if they could purchase a 10% share in him as a potential racing and stallion prospect.

That’s the ultimate endorsement, when the breeder sells into the open market and then buys back into the horse.
So we have been waiting patiently to see how the OLYMPIC GLORY progeny would perform on the track in the Northern Hemisphere and we are delighted with his early results.
We believe we have purchased one of his best yearlings - so do Arrowfield Stud - that's why they purchased back into him.
Bred to be good with looks to match, we have a colt who is By a Gr1 Winner - From a Gr1 Winner and is a ½ brother to a Stakes Winner whilst his second dam is a Stakes Winner – hence he has the big commercial pedigree page to be an attractive sire prospect, if his deeds on the track can marry up with his looks and pedigree.

Best Bets advertising for 13/10 issue
With 5% shares at $11,000 including GST, and 2.5% Shares at $5,500 inc GST this is a serious colt for an owner who wants to race a horse bred to be a black type horse in co-ownership with Australia's Number 1 thoroughbred Nursery.

This colt is a standout and warrants consideration.
