Director Profile

Managing Director and Responsible Officer

Dean’s early career background was Merchant Banking and Equities Trading.

Dean Watt has been an ASIC licence holder since 1982 and actively involved in the Thoroughbred Industry since that date.

In 1986, Dean Watt successfully commenced his own Thoroughbred Consultancy “Dean Watt Bloodstock” which still actively trades today. This business does consulting work to the Thoroughbred Industry and is separate trading business from Dynamic Syndications.

Dean Watt Bloodstock is a long standing member of the Federation of Bloodstock Agents - Australia Ltd.

More details:

In 1994, Dean Watt Bloodstock was the first company ever to be awarded a private contract to supply 87 horses in one single order delivered by cargo plane to South Korea. Previously offered by Tender, the Seoul Racehorse Owners Association bestowed a great honour upon Dean by creating a protocol to award the contract directly.

In 1995, Dean became a licenced Racehorse Syndicator commencing the trading name Sports Star Syndications

In 1996, as a personal challenge whilst continuing his bloodstock consultancy work, Dean became a Licenced Racehorse Trainer in NSW (SERA), training several winners over a short period before ceasing training, to concentrate on his racing administration career. It was never his career intention to become a Racehorse Trainer. However to truly understand the workings of a racing stable and communicate effectively with all owners and industry suppliers (Trainers, Veterinarians, Jockey’s, Track Riders, Strappers, Feed & Produce Merchants, Transporters and Racing Administrators, etc.,) the only way to gain a full understandings of the intricacies of the sport was to take a hands-on approach.

In 2001 a proposition was put forward to Dean by a leading high profile Randwick trainer, to run Dean’s syndication company through the one Randwick stable. After due consideration, a business model and relationship was agreed. By joining forces, Dean became the market leader at syndicating exciting racehorse prospects.

The proven syndication work by Dean Watt and the training skill set of the Randwick Stables at that time, continued for several years with great racetrack success. Dean also acted as the Racing Manager for the stable during this period and attended trackwork 6 days a week ensuring the smooth transition of information flow between trainer and track riders as well as the race planning for all horses.

During this period, our syndicated horses excelled winning many good races including the Cox Plate and Spring Champion - Winner SAVABEEL, Golden Slipper and Riesling Slipper - Winner POLAR SUCCESS, Caulfield Guineas - Winner ECONSUL, Magic Millions and Widden Stakes - Winner BRADBURY’S LUCK, etc.

However, Dean was constantly fielding requests to organise his syndicates around other leading trainers who also wanted to gain access to his skills, expertise, compliance and administrative support levels.

It also became necessary, due to our outstanding success over these years and the rapid growth associated with success that our corporate structure needed to change to keep pace with the growth and to ensure we continued to meet Australian Securities and Investment Commissions requirements under Policy Statement 20 and Class Order 02/395 of the Corporations Law.

By the end of 2004 the time was right to change business philosophy and syndicate our horses around many different stables rather than being “pigeon holed” supporting just one trainer.

In November 2004, Dean Watt moved his offices into the Sydney CBD and joined forces with his client and good friend Bruce Reid in a business partnership. Bruce was a highly respected and very successful businessman who had a passion for the sport and a belief in the syndications concept. Dean created the trading name Dynamic Syndications and within a short period, we were ready to attend our first yearling sales under the Dynamic Syndications banner in January 2005.

Unfortunately only a few weeks later, we were shocked by the sudden passing of Bruce Reid. Fortunately Bruce’s Estate continued with his wish and remained involved with Dynamic Syndications.

In 2006 Dean's skills and eye for bloodstock resulted in him being appointed as a Judge - Thoroughbred Section - Brisbane Royal Show.

In February 2009 Dean Watt brought out the Bruce Reid Estate’s equity in the Dynamic Syndications.

We remain syndicating under the name of Dynamic Syndications.
